VMI today announced it has redesigned their Summit fold-out ramp on their Chrysler and Dodge wheelchair accessible minivans. The company has completed all design, engineering and validation processes with the Summit ramp. VMI has more than 350 authorized dealers who have been certified to sell and service the new redesigned Summit ramp.
The VMI Summit conversion delivers space in an innovative way: Through a uniquely powered fold-out ramp that delivers more interior space than competitive ramp systems. Our PowerKneel™ gives you a lower ramp angle, making access easier. The enhancements to the newly designed Summit ramp are; a self actuating anti-rattle mechanism, added perforations on the ramp and a smoother ramp transition into the minivan.
The self-actuating anti-rattle mechanism prevents ramp movement and rattle for a quite ride. The mechanism is out of view of the customer when it is stowed and is adjustable. With perforations in the ramp large enough that 3/8” debris falls through, it also increases tire grip and reduces the ramp weight. The new ramp transition area makes for a smoother entry and exit into the minivan.
In a recent focus group, the redesigned Summit was preferred by more than 10 to 1 compared to the leading competition! Beginning on July 1, 2007 for all fold-out ramp applications, the redesigned Summit became standard equipment on all Chrysler and Dodge mininvans.
